Leadership that Listens
My name is John French, and I’m running to be your state Senator from District 29 (towns of Brooklyn, Canterbury, Killingly, Mansfield, Putnam, Scotland, Thompson, and Windham). I am a small businessman with 37 years experience conducting business in Connecticut, and 30 years experience working Town budgets from both a Board of Finance and Board of Education perspective.
Why am I running? Because I love Connecticut . . . and she is clearly in trouble. Consider, Connecticut ranks last or near last in every economic factor measured. Over 25,000 citizens per year are leaving our State. We are considered one of the worst states to do business in as evidenced by GE leaving the state.
Over the past 20 years, Connecticut has become one of the most unfriendly states in which to conduct business or live. I know we can be better, and I believe I can make a positive difference in Hartford. For more information on why I’m running click here.
I’m a lifelong resident of Windham with family ties to the area dating back to the 18th century, with many of my ancestors instrumental in the formation of the Agricultural College of UCONN. I am a graduate of Windham High and Thames Valley Technical College, a carpenter by trade and similar to my father and brother (former president of Colt Manufacturing), a small business owner most of my adult life. I live in Willimantic with my wife Lorraine and own and operate Willimantic Interior Design. We have five children and six grandchildren.
